Instagram users unable to view photos or videos in DMs

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), multiple Instagram users are facing an issue where they are unable to view photos or videos that they have sent to other users through direct messages (DM).

It has been alleged that the content appears as if one has already viewed it, despite the fact that it was only recently transmitted. And one can only like the photo after tapping on it.

Along with this, those on the receiving end also cannot view the disappearing photos or videos they received from others.

But luckily, users can see the directly sent multimedia content without any occasional hiccups. The issue popped up recently and affects users across multiple platforms.
