[Updated] New World 'A Unexpected Prisoner' main quest bugged (Fulgoris not spawning), issue acknowledged

Multiple New World players are unable to progress in the main storyline due to an annoying bug after the Season 1 Fellowship and Fire update. The issue at hand currently affects the ‘A Unexpected Prisoner’ main quest.

It’s worth noting that New World updates have broken certain game mechanics in the past as well. For instance, an update once introduced desync and lag-related issues that negatively impacted players’ experience.

New World ‘A Unexpected Prisoner’ quest bugged

According to recent reports (1,2,3,4,5,6), New World players are stuck in the ‘A Unexpected Prisoner’ quest as the main boss, Fulgoris, never appears or spawns even after completing all of the other tasks.

Pls fix the bug on the quest “A Unexpected Prisioner´´ on Cleopatra server. Is a server for new players and this quest is MAIN. Fulgoris doesn’t spawn. One week with this bug. So sad.

Is this quest bugged? iv’e investigated thhe ancient console a million times and nothing happens. The boss doesn’t show up.

Due to the bug, some players are unable to complete the main quest storyline. It seems that the issue has been affecting gamers for the past week and still hasn’t been patched out.

Ideally, after gamers are done killing the mobs in the area, Fulgoris should spawn for a fight. However, some have defeated the mobs multiple times but the boss just never shows up. In some rare cases, it is immortal.

New World developers recently confirmed that they are aware of the issue where the ‘A Unexpected Prisoner’ quest is bugged and are actively working on fixing it. But they did not share an ETA for the same.

Sadly, there aren’t any solid workarounds to fix the issue at the moment. However, for some players, the bug got resolved on its own after some time.

While the team is working on a definitive fix, we recommend affected gamers to complete the side quests and other challenges.

We hope the developers are able to indentify the root cause behind the problem and fix it as soon as posssible. We’ll update this story to reflect noteworthy information.

12:52 pm (IST): There is a maintenance break scheduled for today in which developers have announced that the issue with the ‘Unexpected Prisoner’ quest will be fixed.
