Is Amino: Communities and Fandom app shutting down

Recently, the app has been removed from Apple’s App Store due to some unknown reasons.

This has made some users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) speculate that it might be the case that the company is shutting down the app permanently.

Notably, the app was removed from the App Store a few years back, but it was restored soon after.

However, some are doubtful of its return this time since back then Amino was under different management.

Furthermore, it has been alleged that the app was plagued with bugs and issues for quite a while. Also, the developers were unable to fix these problems even after a long time.

For instance, some have experienced difficulties in purchasing the Amino+ subscription on Google Play Store and logging into their account on the Android app.

Update 2 (April 12, 2023)

06:35 pm (IST): Surprisingly, there are some users (1,2,3,4,5) that are in the favor of shutting down the Amino communities. The main cause of this appears to be the toxicity in its communities.

Update 3 (April 13, 2023)

05:16 pm (IST): According to a review on Google Play Store, the app consistently experiences server issues that leads to the ‘403 forbidden’ error.

This app really fell off in recent years. With ads that will force sound to play, to obnoxious full-screen ones that last far longer than they should. But the biggest problem is the servers, without a doubt. Every single day, I end up seeing the same error (403 Forbidden) multiple different times in the span of an hour. PLEASE FIX YOUR SERVERS!
