Millions of creators rely on YouTube to showcase their craft and reach an audience that’s interested in their content. Having a decent CTR (Click-through rate) is especially important to reach a larger crowd.
However, just like every digital platform, YouTube is not immune to the occasional bugs and issues. We recently covered a problem where the YouTube app started crashing for some Apple TV 4K users.
YouTube CTR values dropped or lower than usual
Several content creators have been complaining (1,2,3,4,5) that their YouTube CTR values have suddenly dropped or are lower than the usual amount. Some are concerned that their content is being suppressed by the platform.
Bro im ngl CTR been lower than usual I feel like they’ve changed something.

Creators have even shared screenshots of their YouTube analytics to show the abrupt downfall in their CTR values. It’s worth noting that despite a drop in the CTR, the creator’s view count remains unaffected.
This hints at the possibility of this being a visual bug rather than an actual decline in clicks. Luckily, the same was confirmed by a Twitter user who did some basic math to reach this conclusion.
anyone experiencing the same problem? 50k impressions 10k views but 7.6% ctr and this happens to all my vids lmao

It appears that YouTube is currently miscalculating the CTR of videos. This is a sigh of relief for those concerned about their YouTube numbers declining.
Official acknowledgment
Fortunately, the YouTube team has already acknowledged the bug and confirmed that they are working on a fix. However, they did not share an ETA for the same.
We hope they are able to detect the root cause behind the problem and fix it as soon as possible. We’ll keep an eye on this matter and update this story to reflect noteworthy developments.
