Developed by Arkane Studios, Redfall is an upcoming first-person shooter video game set to be released on May 2, 2023. One can enjoy playing this game on a Windows machine or Xbox console.

The game is set on the island town of Redfall, Massachusetts, in which a legion of vampires enter and seal the town from the outside world after the failure of a scientific experiment.

Players need to slay their enemies, both vampires and human collaborators. Bethesda recently revealed that Redfall would initially launch on Xbox without support for 60fps (frames per second) Performance mode.

And this has understandably made some unhappy.

Gamers want Redfall release to be delayed

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple players are of the view that the developers should delay the release of the game.

The fact that the 60fps performance mode will be unavailable initially has made them believe that Arkane Studios is rushing with the launch of Redfall.

They believe there is no point in releasing an incomplete version of the game, even after a full year’s delay. It is also speculated that it might take a while before Redfall bags an update that enables 60fps mode.

Understandably, achieving an in-game performance of just 30fps on one of the most powerful consoles is not acceptable.

Notably, some have even totally lost interest in playing the game after hearing the news.

And, according to an unofficial poll, where over 14,000 people voted, the majority of gamers want Arkane Studios to halt the release until the performance mode is available.

However, another section of players (1,2,3,4,5,6) don’t want the release to be delayed.

They are supportive of the company’s decision and understand that modern-day games require powerful hardware for a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience.

I’m a bit more willing to let that slide because technically both the PS5 and Xbox Series X have more than 8GB VRAM so its not unreasonable for ‘current gen’ games to want to use a full 8GB VRAM.

This is common, developers are basing the recommendations off of complete builds of increasing power, not over what specific components are necessary.
