MLB The Show 23 Companion app's face scan feature criticized for being 'awful', 'slow' or 'not working' for some users, fix coming
If you are a fan of baseball and video games, you might want to check out MLB The Show 23, the latest installment of the popular baseball simulation game.
One of the features that define this game is the face scan feature, which allows you to upload your own photo and use it as your unique character in the game.

It is actually quite simple to scan your own face, all you need is the MLB The Show companion app on your smartphone. This app is available for both Android and iOS devices.
MLB The Show 23 Companion app’s face scan feature criticized
However, this feature has come under huge scrutiny from the MLB The Show 23 community (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).

Players have reported that the face-scanning process is taking too long to complete, with some having to wait for up to two hours without seeing any progress.
Additionally, some also complain that their face scan does not look accurate or realistic enough in the game or that it does not match their expectations.
Lastly, players have encountered issues when attempting to upload their photo for scanning which prevent them from completing the face-scanning process altogether.
This appears to be the situation regardless of the platform. Both the Android and the recently introduced iOS version of the app are affected.
Does anyone know how long face scan takes to process on iOS it’s been 10 minutes and all it says is that it’s processing is it supposed to take that long or am I just impatient

Issue acknowledged
Fortunately, MLB The Show support said that the developers are aware of the issue where it takes longer than usual for face scans on Android. However, no ETA for a fix was provided.

While the problem was acknowledged for Android, it’s now affecting iOS after the 2023 Companion app update. So we expect a solution to fix the issue on both platforms.
That said, we’ll keep tabs on the latest developments on MLB The Show 23 face scan issues affecting the Companion app and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
