Pinterest is a social media platform where users can discover and save ideas for their projects, hobbies, interests, and more.

However, recently, Pinterest users have been reporting issues with the platform’s search function.

Pinterest search broken or blocking some words

Reportedly (1,2,3,4,5), some specific users are experiencing difficulties with the search function when they search for certain words, such as girl, boy, and teen.

So basically pinterest have removed all the search with word girls in it because men were being disgusting

i hate men so much. i wasn’t able to search ‘it girl’ or ‘harajuku’ and i realized they’d blocked some terms. im glad pinterest is taking action, but the way weirdos ruin every space targeted at girls and women makes me so sad.

Pinterest search is either blocking these words or not bringing up any relevant search results. Expectedly, the issue has been reported on Twitter and Reddit.

Some Twitter users report similar issues with words like boy and teen, something several other Reddit users have also echoed.

Another user shared their experience of trying to search for inspiration for a birthday card for their niece, only to be met with no search results.

Pinterest broken? I’m trying to find ideas for a birthday card for my niece. Every search with “girl” gives zero results

It is unclear why Pinterest search is blocking certain words, but some Twitter users have speculated that it may be due to censorship.

One Twitter user pointed out that Pinterest search may be blocking the word ‘girl’ to prevent sexualization or objectification of young girls.

However, there is no official statement from Pinterest regarding the search issue, but we hope that Pinterest addresses the issue and does something to handle the broken search concerns in a way that doesn’t need compromise.

Until then, stay tuned and we’ll keep you informed as events unfold.
