So a couple of minutes back, while searching for some Android-related stuff, Himanshu from our team noticed a weird Twitter glitch wherein he found search stuck on results from an hour back irrespective of the search query.

That’s when he asked others from the team if Twitter is behaving in a similar manner for them. And irrespective of the platforms – Android/iOS we all ended up nodding our heading saying, you are correct mate.

So yes, the Twitter search isn’t working right now on both app and web, and all you get to see is an hour old search results. Following are a couple of screenshots taken from iOS (left) and Android (right) reflecting what we get in the latest section on searching for “Android”:

The same is the case with the web version of the service.

Update 1 (December 3, 2022)

09:32 am (IST): Some users are again reporting that Twitter search is broken or not working for them.

Oh no am I going to be forced to update Twitter it’s not letting me search anything anymore (Source)

Twitter being locked down for this NFL situation. Search function is not working. (Source)

I can’t even search twitter to see if anyone else is having the same issue because the issue is with the search (Source)

Update 2 (December 9, 2022)

11:34 am (IST): The recent issue with Twitter search has now been resolved as we haven’t come across any fresh reports.

Update 3 (January 11, 2023)

11:51 am (IST): Multiple reports and our personal tests indicate that there is a current outage in the Twitter search function (1, 2, 3, 4). Apparently, the search is not working on desktop browsers, but is working on the Twitter mobile app.

2:00 pm (IST): The issue that was affecting the Twitter search engine seems to have been fixed. No new related reports have surfaced and the search works correctly for us as well.

Update 4 (March 1, 2023)

04:22 pm (IST): Some users are now reporting that the search function is broken again as they can’t search anything in the ‘Latest’ section and instead get ‘Welcome to Twitter!’ screen.

And that’s not all, the homepage is also showing the same message, apparently due to an outage.

Update 5 (March 2, 2023)

06:28 pm (IST): The recent issue with Twitter search appears to have been resolved as we haven’t come across any fresh reports.

Update 6 (March 8, 2023)

01:24 pm (IST): It seems Twitter’s search function is once again down and not working, at least for a section of users (1,2,3,4,5).

04:50 pm (IST): The problem only appears to have lasted for a couple of hours as the lack of complaints from users indicates that the issue has been resolved.

Update 7 (March 21, 2023)

09:23 am (IST): According to fresh reports (1, 2, 3, 4), Twitter search is again not working for some users.

Update 8 (March 22, 2023)

05:48 pm (IST): Lack of reports now suggest that the recent issue with Twitter search has now been fixed.

Update 9 (July 5, 2023)

01:41 pm (IST): According to fresh reports (1, 2, 3), Twitter search is broken or not working for a section of users.

06:03 pm (IST): The recent issue with Twitter search appears to have been resolved.

Update 10 (September 26, 2023)

09:42 am (IST): It seems that the Twitter search engine is not working correctly, as it is offering limited or no results.
