Plex Media Server is a popular media management and streaming software that allows users to organize and stream their media content across multiple devices.

One of the key features of Plex is its remote access capability, which enables users to access their media content from anywhere in the world as long as they have an internet connection.

Plex Media Server issue with remote access

Well, now it is coming to light that there might be an issue where remote access outside local network is not working for some Plex Media Server users (1,2,3,4,5).

As per the reports, when users enable remote access, it displays a message that says, ‘Not available outside your network’.

However, when they click on the ‘retry’ button it takes a few seconds and shows up as ‘Fully accessible outside your network’.

The joy for users is short-lived, though, as after a few seconds or minutes, connection changes back to ‘not available’ and they consequently lose remote access to their Plex server.

Troubleshooting methods like enabling UPNP, adding the DNS rebind to your firewall, creating NAT rules with a private-public port, and using a VPN don’t work either.

Does anyone have issue with remote connection outside local network? For some reason I cant connect to Plex outside local network. It must be Plex issue (I wonder WHY?!) because I dont have issue with other services. Also Plex Dash working fine. Some bad update or what is going on?

My old server crashed, and I set up a new Media Server. For some reason, the remote access does not stay connected. It says:
Not available outside your network Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network.

Issue esclated

Fortunately, a Plex team member on the official forum has escalated this issue for further investigation. But no ETA for a fix was provided.
