New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 20, 2022) follows:

YouTube TV is one of the best premium live TV streaming services available in the United States. It provides more than 100 channels in English and Spanish, ranging from news to live sports.

However, users have suffered some issues in the past like video stuttering or choppy on Apple TV and issues with unskippable ads on DVR recordings, among others.

YouTube TV freezes when using rewind or fast-forward

According to reports, many Samsung TV users are reporting that YouTube TV freezes when using rewind or fast-forward functions (1,2,3,4,5).

The affected Samsung TV users claim that when they try to perform the rewind or fast-forward functions, YouTube TV freezes or the display is filled with colorful bars.

The only way to restore proper functioning is to switch the Samsung TV off and back on. After this, there is no problem with the playback until you attempt to rewind or fast-forward a video again.

This has been quite frustrating given that this is such a basic feature of any video-playing service. Furthermore, no such issues have been reported on mobile devices, so the problem appears to be exclusive to Samsung TV users.

@YouTubeTV your DVR is trash lately. If I rewind a recent show (Walking Dead, NCIS, etc) even for the smallest of re-editing, this happens. WHY?!? Frozen and unresponsive.

YouTubeTV essentially breaks whenever I rewind a live show. If I rewind something youtubeTV starts lagging super bad and eventually goes to a black screen where the only thing I can do is shut the app off. This been happening to anyone else recently? Super annoying

A few have attempted troubleshooting methods such as connecting their TV to a WiFi network and uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the issue still remains.

Issue acknowledged

Fortunately, the YouTube support team has acknowledged this issue and has asked those affected to send them a screenshot of the ‘Stats for nerds’ page:
