Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

Original story follows:

Spotify is a well-known audio streaming service that continuously improves itself by adding new features or by releasing regular updates.

While some features and tweaks are well-received by the users, other features/updates are not as much appreciated and thus face criticism.

For instance, we previously witnessed how the new Spotify home page UI for Android and iOS was met with backlash.

Spotify removed ‘New episodes’ tab for Podcasts

Some Spotify users have vented their dissatisfaction on Twitter (1,2,3,4,5,6) and the community forum (1,2,3,4) as a result of the removal of the ‘New episodes’ option from the Podcasts page.

Apparently, the ‘New episodes’ tab was eliminated with the new update. And it even included all of the recent episodes that users subscribed to.

But users feel that this change has made the platform less user-friendly. We also witnessed similar disappointment from the users en masse when the ‘Enhanced’ button was removed.

Many are absolutely frustrated with this change and are asking the developers to bring the feature back.

Official response

It appears that Spotify has commented on the issue and confirmed that have indeed removed the ‘New episodes’ tab. However, users can still find the new episodes of their followed shows by tapping the bell icon on Home.

According to the team, this change was introduced with a view of accessing the new episodes quicker with the new ‘What’s New’ feed since it can now be located directly from Home.

Sorry to hear you feel that way. The new What’s New feed makes accessing your new episodes quicker because you can find it right from Home, but we’ll make sure your feedback reaches the right team. We’ll be here if you need anything else.

But not all users feel the same way and believe that the previous location was far easier to access (1,2,3,4).

We hope that the developers take users’ feedback into consideration and bring back the ‘New episodes’ tab that was removed from the Spotify Podcasts page.

We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article accordingly.
