New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on April 22, 2022) follows:

Rainbow Six Siege is currently one of the most popular tactical FPS games. It’s not the latest installment in the Rainbow Six franchise (Rainbow Six Extraction arrived this year), but it maintains a strong, ongoing community.

Rainbow Six Siege is an online-only mode. Ubisoft made the decision not to develop a single-player campaign in order to fully focus on the competitive multiplayer facet of the game.

In fact, Rainbow Six Siege is usually very popular in the e-sports segment. However, by not having single-player modes, a game server crash can affect key features and make it unplayable.

And currently, Rainbow Six Siege players are facing an issue where they are unable to invite friends to new matches (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

Rainbow Six Siege players unable to invite friends

Rainbow Six Siege is experiencing a glitch that prevents players from inviting their friends to start matches. The issue has been going on for a few hours, according to multiple reports.

Can’t invite friends, friends can’t invite me; even when I’m online they are “offline”

I start R6 from steam and try to invite friends to play but they are offline on my side and can’t receive any messages or invites from me.
I close R6 and Ubisoft Connect, relaunch and still launches me in invisible have to manual make myself online but problem persists.
My friends try to invite me and message me but these invites and messages only appear when I come back into Ubisoft Connect or R6.

Ubisoft team acknowledged the issue and is investigating

The Ubisoft team is already aware of the glitch and looking into it. However, there are no specific details on an estimated arrival date for a fix yet.

Hey there Robin. We are aware of this issue with being unable to invite friends! Would you confirm for us your username and your Internet Service Provider?

Being a server-side issue, there is no workaround to help resolve or mitigate it while an official fix arrives. So the affected players can only wait for new official pronouncements in this regard.

We will update this story as future events unfold.
