[Updated] Discord iOS app 'crashing when clicking on or viewing profiles' issue troubles many
Here’s the crux of the article in video form:
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on July 7, 2022) follows:
Launched in 2015, Discord is the go-to place for gamers. Valued at $15 billion last year, the majority of the revenue is generated from the Nitro subscription service.
And while Discord seems to be growing at a rapid pace, users face bugs and glitches every now and then that negatively impact their overall experience.
That said, many have complained about the ‘About Me’ page tab not working and not being able to change overlay settings.
And as if the aforementioned problems weren’t troubling enough, many Discord users on iOS are now reporting that the app is crashing when clicking on or viewing profiles.
This is really annoying since users are unable to view or even click on their friends’ profiles. Some tried restarting and reinstalling the app hoping the problem will be resolved but to no avail.
Below are a couple of reports from Discord users for whom the iOS app is crashing when clicking on or viewing profiles.
Discord crashes whenever I click on someone’s profile (mobile). Every time I press on someone’s profile it crashes and I have to restart discord what can I do to fix this? Pls help me this is rly annoying
@discord I’m experiencing a crash bug on mobile where the app crashes when I open certain user profiles. It is not consistent, as it opens some profiles, but not all
Unfortunately, Discord developers are yet to officially acknowledge the issue. However, those affected can try updating the app since it is reportedly fixing the problem for some.
If you’re on iOS or Android beta, make sure you’re up to date. Trying to load connections (new epic games connection) or other content that is not in that version of the app will cause it to crash. Current Android stable is not affected by these things.
It looks like the problem allegedly surfaced after Discord added a new feature where users can see other people’s phone number on their profile, causing those running an older version to crash when viewing profiles.
Rest assured, we will be keeping an eye out on the matter and update this space as and when we come across further developments so make sure you stay tuned.
