New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 14, 2023) follows:

Hogwarts Legacy recently received the Day One patch which fixed some of the known problems.

For instance, it fixed an issue where the game would crash after the seizure warning as well as a bug where some players’ characters would collapse through the map.

The update also addressed a glitch where accepting the terms of service would exit the game to the desktop.

However, some are unhappy because, despite the update, they are experiencing some difficulties while playing the game.

Hogwarts Legacy graphics appear washed out due to excessive fog

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), some gamers are unable to enjoy the gameplay due to excessive fog. It is alleged that the fog appears even indoors resulting in washed-out graphics.

A PlayStation 5 owner complains that the game has a very high contrast. Also, the indoor areas appear washed out, and there is a bizarre fog-like effect as well.

Another gamer on Reddit alleges that even though the colors of the game menus are displayed normally, during gameplay dense fog always pops up within a second or two.

Some find the problem to be very distracting and claim that it spoils the immersive gameplay experience.

What is up with the fog in this game. It’s freaking beautiful when the fog isn’t there for a second but as soon as it comes back it just washes everything out completely, zero contrast to the environment.

Please Devs use Reparo or something to fix it. Its destroying my playthrough. It’s foggy everywhere everytime, everything is so blurry. It makes the game looks very bad

Gamers have even tried switching between the available graphics modes, tinkering with the TV or monitor’s built-in and HDR settings, as well as their console settings, with no success.

Official acknowledgment

The WB Games support team on Twitter has officially acknowledged the issue and is currently investigating the reports. However, no official ETA for a bugfix has been provided.

Potential workarounds

Fortunately, we did come across a potential workaround that may help solve the problem for Windows PC users. It has been suggested that you install a mod to reduce fog.

The process is quite easy, as you just need to replace a single game file in the installation directory.
