Some Twitter users report images or pictures not loading in DMs
Twitter is one of the ultimate mediums for millions of people to communicate their ideas or opinions to the general public.
The ‘Direct Messages’ feature of the platform is relevant when discussing a more private aspect of it. This feature lets you communicate privately with people about Tweets and other content.
However, we have seen instances where this feature sometimes starts to malfunction. We previously highlighted how the DM button disappeared for some users and wasn’t loading the direct messages for others altogether.
Twitter images or pictures not loading in DMs
A number of Twitter users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) have now encountered a bug that’s not loading the images or pictures for them in their DMs.
Very dull @Twitter question. Since yesterday, photos in my DMs have decided they won’t load. I can see them but they won’t open beyond that. No clue why. Crash course in online tech Qs confused me. Already sent mail to Help Centre but there may be a quicker fix.
Is anyone else having trouble with Twitter mobile not loading pictures in dms? Like it loads the preview but i click on it to see the larger version of a picture and it doesn’t load. Ive tried everything
Even though the image preview loads without a hitch, it never opens when somebody taps/enlarges them. For some, this bug is also not loading the most recent messages (1,2,3,4).
Affected users have tried restarting their phones and clearing the cache but to no avail. Even after allowing all permissions and reinstalling the app don’t seem to fix the issue.
As a result of this issue, some users are now forced to switch to the desktop version of Twitter. It seems that the platform works better on a browser instead of a mobile app.
Twitter hasn’t said anything about this issue yet. We do hope that the team catches hold of the reports about images not loading in DMs and comes up with a fix at the earliest.
There is no workaround at the moment but users can definitely try switching to the desktop version in order to view the images that aren’t loading.
Until then, please keep an eye on this article because we will update it as new information becomes available.
