Overwatch 2 players can now access the first event for Season 3, the ‘Ultimate Valentine’ until February 28, 2023.

To accompany it, Blizzard Entertainment has created ‘Loverwatch: Love Never Dies’, a text-based dating simulator in which gamers can converse with and date either Genji or Mercy. They will be assisted by Cupid Hanzo as well.

Even though Loverwatch’s website has only recently been launched, some are already facing issues with the portal.

Overwatch 2 Loverwatch website slow or extremely laggy

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), some players are experiencing lag in the newly launched dating simulator. Performance-related issues also make it hard to get through the game.

Some claim that even though they are able to play the game on their web browser, it’s insanely slow and runs at drastically low frames per second.

While others say that it’s very laggy and takes up to 3 minutes to load the first scene. They say that even Overwatch runs much better than this web-browser-based game.

A high-end system owner alleges that the game even challenges their 9th generation i7 processor and Nvidia’s 3060 graphics card.

Is this happening with anyone else? It’s unplayable with how laggy it is and just straight up took like 3 minutes to load the first scene. My computer runs Overwatch itself better than this browser game.

Laptop user here, whether I go to the new dating sim website, my CPU is always at 99% and RAM keeps leaking until 2GB+? How is that for an in-browser game?

For some, the game will not even load and all that one can see is just a black screen. However, the problems of Loverwatch players don’t end up here.

Other issues

Some gamers (1,2,3,4,5) are also experiencing issues such as game crashes, web page refreshes, and login errors.

A Twitter user claims to have tried playing it on both their Windows PC and Xbox console, but the game would crash after selecting a screen name.

On the other hand, for some, the web page completely crashes every now and then.

Potential workaround

Fortunately, we did come across some potential workarounds that may help you get rid of the problem. Firstly, you can try enabling hardware acceleration from the web browser settings.

If that doesn’t work for you then you can try switching to the Microsoft Edge browser.

That said, we will keep tabs on the issue facing some players with the Loverwatch website and update this story as we come across new information.

Update 1 (February 15, 2023)

02:04 pm (IST): Some players are now reporting (1, 2) that Loverwatch requires scanning QR code from mobile device even though it can’t be played from mobile browser.

Furthermore, the game detects PC as a mobile device after scanning the QR. Fortunately, there is a potential workaround to fix these issues.
