The Fox Sports app on Roku allows users to watch live sports, highlights, and other sports-related content on their Roku streaming device.

Users can access a variety of live sports events, including NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and college football and basketball games. The app also features on-demand content such as replays, interviews, and analysis.

The app is expected to deliver high-quality videos, including 4K HDR content. However, some users are experiencing issues with the quality of same content on the Fox Sports app.

Fox Sports app 4K HDR colors washed out on Roku

If you’re a Roku user and have been experiencing washed-out colors on the Fox Sports app in 4K HDR, you’re not alone. This issue has been plaguing users since long.

I watched 4K HDR game yesterday on Roku TV Fox Sports App and picture was far too dark (couldn’t brighten) & not nearly as detailed as it should have been-was HDR because TV settings said it was. 4K/HDR has been HUGE disappointment. Give me a good 1080P broadcast for sports!!

The issue with the Fox Sports app on Roku is that the HDR colors are washed out, resulting in a lack of vibrancy and contrast.

This has been a long-standing issue, as evidenced by multiple Reddit threads and tweets complaining about the same issue.

Potential workarounds

One Reddit user suggested a potential workaround for this issue. They recommended changing the display settings on your Roku device to Display Type and turning off the HDR option by selecting the 4K TV option.

This workaround has reportedly worked for several subscribers who were experiencing the same issue.

It’s important to note that this workaround may not work for everyone, and it’s not a guaranteed fix for the issue.

However, it’s worth a try if you’re experiencing washed-out colors on the Fox Sports app in 4K HDR on your Roku device.

It is also worth noting that a user mentioned that using SDR in spite of HDR has given them a better vibrancy of colors in the app.

Fox Sports App is not looking good in HDR. It looks LOG-ish(flat). Resolution is good but colors are so bad.
@FOXSports#WorldCup2022. The most vibrant is actually in SDR even though the grass looks fake as hell.@Roku

It’s unclear why this issue is specific to the Fox Sports app on Roku, as other streaming services and apps seem to display HDR colors correctly on the platform.

Irrespective of the cause, the workaround mentioned above has helped some subscribers fix the issue of washed-out colors on the Fox Sports app in 4K HDR on Roku.
