Recently, we covered a story where some Fortnite players reported the ‘Dragon Ball quest’ to be bugged or broken as their dragon balls collection progress would not update properly.

This time, some players allege that the Oathbound quest is bugged.

They are unable to complete it as some of the necessary Falcon Scout controls are unavailable for use. As a result, they are unable to scan or mark some necessary schematics and players.

Fortnite Oathbound quest glitched

Some Fortnite players (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) are facing difficulties while playing the Oathbound quest as they are unable to control the Falcon scout properly.

It is alleged that one can only make the falcon go up and down. Also, the other movement and ping inputs on the scout are labeled as unbound, and one cannot change or override the controls.

Due to this issue, some are unable to pick up or scan items and schematics with the scout and complete the quest.

Players complain that they are even unable to get out of the bird, and in general, have to fly it out of range to get out of it.

A gamer on Twitter also claims to be facing a similar issue with car radio controls. They say that the controls would occasionally ‘unbound’ and as a result, they are unable to turn off the radio.

The Falcon is broken, most of the controls are unbound, this isn’t a one time thing either it happens every game.

Just got eliminated for the second time in a row because I couldn’t dismiss the Falcon Scout due to the action being unbound.

Some have even tried tinkering with multiple game settings but to no effect. The issue is affecting multiple console players and is said to have popped up after a recent update.

Official response

Fortunately, the Fortnite support team is aware of the issue and is asking affected players to restart the game or their console in order to fix the issue.

We hope that Epic Games soon fixes the Oathbound quest glitch so that players can play the game without any hiccups.

That said, we’ll keep an eye on this matter and update this story to reflect noteworthy information.

Update 2 (February 7, 2023)

03:00 pm (IST): As another potential workaround, some players have changed the settings from ‘Builder Pro’ to ‘Custom’ to set an already existing template as a ‘Custom’ one:

I used this temporary fix too before, the permanent fix for me was: Changed settings from ‘Builder Pro’ to ‘Custom’. After that you can press square (PS5) and set the ‘Custom’ setting to an already existing template (Builder Pro, Combat Pro, etc.) Did not loose any keybinds since then.

Update 3 (February 14, 2023)

02:32 pm (IST): Fortnite is expecting a downtime that will begin today at 4 am ET to prepare for v23.40 update. Thus, players can look forward to the update to see if it addresses this issue.

Prepare to break open the vault tomorrow with Update v23.40! Downtime begins at 4 AM ET, with matchmaking being disabled shortly before. (Source)
