Snapchat started off as a platform to connect users and share Snaps which disappear after 24 hours.
Now, users can easily access information, know what’s going on around the world and interact with celebrities they follow using the Discover Page.
The feature was appreciated for adding to the user experience of the app. However, it seems that that isn’t the case anymore.
Some Snapchat users are no longer appreciative of the Discover tab feature and the positioning of the Back and Video Call buttons in the app.
Snapchat’s clickbait content in the ‘Discover’ tab
Snapchat has been facing criticism from some users regarding the content on its Discover tab and the position of its ‘Back’ and ‘Video call’ buttons, according to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).
The Discover tab features various channels that provide news, entertainment, and other types of content.
I WILL LITERALLY PAY YOU TO STOP SHOWING ME THE DISCOVER SCREEN

@Snapchat has way too many ads on the discover stories. It’s honestly ridiculous

Affected Snapchat users have expressed their dissatisfaction with the type of content being featured on the tab, calling it clickbait and also obnoxious.
They have demanded Snapchat to either remove the tab or provide an option to hide it. Additionally, the frequency of ads while watching videos in the Discover tab has also been a source of irritation for some users.
In addition to the Discover tab, the position of the ‘Back’ and ‘Video call’ buttons has also been criticized by some users.
Some users also said they accidentally tap on video or voice call buttons when trying to go back from a chat as all these three buttons are confusingly close to each other.
@Snapchat needs to move the video call button and the back button to opposite ends of the screen. Do you know how many people I accidentally call trying to get out of a message

They have expressed their frustration with the buttons not being in a convenient or easily accessible location.
Currently, there is no option for users to disable the Discover feature but users can filter the content they don’t like by unsubscribing from the channel, reporting it or changing preferences.
When Snapchat will respond to the complaints regarding the Discover tab and button positions remains to be seen.
Until they do, keep tabs on this story for we will update it with any developments we come across.
