Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on November 09, 2021) follows:

Instagram recently received a new feature for Stories called ‘Add Yours’. However, this is not working properly for everyone.

Some Instagram users are reporting that they cannot use the ‘Add Yours’ prompt in their stories.

What is ‘Add Yours’ story sticker?

‘Add Yours’ is basically a sticker that the user can add to their Instagram stories to enhance interaction with their followers.

Although on Instagram there are other types of elements for stories that serve for the interaction between the user and the account that follows, the new sticker ‘Add Yours’ seeks to be a more attractive format.

Instagram describes the ‘Add Yours’ sticker as follows:

‘Add Yours’ chain story sticker not working for some Instagram users

Having said all the above, it seems that not all Instagram users can use the new feature in their stories (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

According to the reports, some users can’t interact with the feature in any way. First, the ‘Add Yours’ prompt does not appear in the stickers list.

I have seen this new functionality in stories but everytime I click on Add Yours nothing happens. It’s like if there was no button. Does anyone else have the same issue or a solution?

Also, when a user who cannot access the feature sees a story from another user who does, and tries to interact with the sticker, nothing happens.

‘Add Yours’ is not working

My ‘Add Yours’ sticker is not working when I press on it on somebody else’s story on one of my accounts, however it is on the other. This is on the same phone as well. Is there a way to fix this?

Could be due to a limited release

It seems that the ‘Add Yours’ Story sticker has only been deployed with all its functionalities in countries such as Indonesia, Japan, and Singapore.

This means that only users from those countries could create stories with an ‘Add Yours’ sticker and start the chain. Meanwhile, users from other countries could only interact with the sticker of those users.

However, some users report that they cannot interact with the stickers of others either. This is because they would not be eligible to test the feature. So, they have to wait for the global rollout.

Some potential workarounds

There are some potential workarounds that might help users who don’t have the function yet. One is to clear cache and data of the Instagram app, and then try again to interact with an ‘Add Yours’ sticker.

If that doesn’t work, you can try submitting a problem report from the Help section into Instagram app. From there, you explain that the feature is not working properly and wait for a response.

Something else that can help is participating in the Instagram beta program. After all, betas usually get all the new features first.

If you tried the above and it still doesn’t work, you just have to wait for the global rollout of ‘Add Yours’ chain story sticker. We will update this article if there is any new development in this regard.

Update 6 (November 19)

IST 12:26 pm: The Add Yours sticker is still not available to a good chunk of users on the platform. That said, Instagram has now rolled out a new Rage Shake feature that lets users report issues with the app by shaking their phones, as highlighted by a report.

Therefore, users should hopefully be able to get Instagram to speed up the release of the sticker to more people. At present, the shake to report feature is only available in the U.S. on the iOS and Android app.

Update 7 (November 20)

11:45 am (IST): In case you still aren’t able to see the Add Yours sticker on Instagram, we’d suggest using a VPN to check whether changing the region helps. There’s no concrete evidence regarding the effectiveness of this yet, however, it’s worth a shot.

03:29 pm (IST): If user reports are anything to go by, then it seems there’s not much one could do in order to get the Add Yours sticker on Instagram if it isn’t available by default.

Some claim that the sticker is available on their private accounts and not on their public accounts. On the other hand, others claim it’s available on their public accounts while it remains unavailable on their private accounts.

01:47 pm (IST): As highlighted in the general Help article by Instagram, certain stickers and effects aren’t available for everyone or in Europe. Instagram does not provide any ETA for when the stickers will be available for any individual or group.

If you’re not seeing certain stickers on Instagram, make sure your app is updated to the latest version by visiting the App Store or Google Play Store. Keep in mind that not all stickers are available for reels or available to everyone (Source)

This means that you’ll have to wait until the sticker shows up itself on your account to use it. Of course, keep your app updated to the latest version too.

Update 16 (December 06)

06:28 pm (IST): PSA: While several reports have highlighted the scams that are taking place with the Add Yours sticker on Instagram, there’s another scam doing rounds on Twitter where scammers are targeting unsuspecting users by promising to get the Add Yours sticker on accounts that don’t have it yet.

Instagram did confirm that this is rolling out to all users but is yet to make any comment regarding the availability of the Add Yours sticker to everyone.

Update 20 (December 11)

04:20 pm (IST): While many users still can’t use the Add Yours sticker, a recent report has highlighted how sports organizations have made use of the new sticker on Instagram to boost their social engagement on the platform.

Update 21 (December 13)
