[Updated] YouTube start up sound reportedly too loud on Smart TVs & boxes, issue being looked into

YouTube is a widely used platform to access online video and audio content that allows its users to upload, share and view videos and interact with channels.

The platform constantly gets updated with new features and improvements, such as enhancing the user interface or introducing new tools which are occasionally followed by some issues.

YouTube start up sound too loud

In recent weeks, users have been reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that the newly launched startup sound feature on YouTube and YouTube TV is a bit too loud for their liking.

Seriously YouTube. Wtf. Turn the volume down. Also Samsung here. Q70 TV and sound bar. I swear if you blow my subwoofer, I’ll send you the bill

The issue seems to be affecting users on a variety of devices, including smart TVs, boxes and more. Social media platforms are abuzz with similar complaints on YouTube TV as well.

@TeamYouTube Whhhhyyyyyy did you add an extremely annoying app start up sound on Roku that is quite loud, very long, and just plain bad. It’s bad enough that YouTube TV has a start up sound. I did NOT need a normal YouTube one as well.

I switch over to YouTube on my LG tv from another app and this stupid start up sound literally vibrates my room is so freaking loud and such bass. It was at a normal volume in the other apps, how do I turn off this shit?

Official acknowledgment

In response to the complaints about start up sound, the support team at YouTube has stated that they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix.

They have not yet given an ETA or a timeline for the availability of the solution but assured users that they are taking the matter seriously.

It is clear that the loud startup sound on YouTube and YouTube TV is a nuisance for a lot of users. Hopefully, the support team will be quickly able to find a solution and bring some relief.

In the meantime, it might be a good idea to have a pair of earplugs or headphones nearby when using the apps.

we’ve recently had an issue where YouTube app start up sound is too loud, but it’s already been fixed! if you haven’t yet, try restarting your device + uninstalling & reinstalling the app. lmk how it goes (Source)
