New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 09, 2020) follows:

In this connected age, our smartphones play a very important role in keeping us in touch with friends and family.

This is even more important in our new reality that requires social distancing and long periods of isolation away from people we care about.

It can, therefore, get very frustrating when these devices we rely on so heavily, don’t work as expected for whatever reason.

This is the situation that users of T-Mobile are finding themselves in as many of them continue to experience an outage in SMS services from their carrier.

According to a section of T-Mobile users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7), they’re facing various issues surrounding SMS on the said carrier that results in delayed, unsent, or missed SMS messages altogether.

SOS T-Mobile users…..are you guys not getting notified when you get a text? Or is it just me? Lol

Has anyone experienced delayed SMS deliveries in the past few hours? I receive the messages on my Digits app, but they are delayed getting to the actual device. Some messages never even arrive.

Many of these reports indicate that the issue seems to have started recently as things have been working well all along.

Anyone else having issues texting? Mine has been out since last night, reset my phone done everything I can. TMO blamed phone but it worked up until yesterday.

Some of the users are facing weird issues in that, texts within the carrier seem to be working well. The issue for them is off-net texts to users on carriers like Verizon.

I have a OnePlus 8p and my step daughter has a oneplus 8, both unlocked and on TMO. Both of use can not text message people on Verizon network. We both use Android messages. All the text does is say, “sending”. But never gets sent. Anyone else?

To recall, we’ve recently looked at a similar issue afflicting users of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro on T-Mobile and many other carriers across the U.S and even globally. More on that here.

At the time of writing, removing or disabling Google Carrier Services under Apps in device Settings seems to be the only viable workaround to this issue.

If you have Carrier Services from Google, the recent update to that was causing those issues for me yesterday. I had to uninstall it to fix things. You may not be able to use Google messages’ rcs chat feature though.

02:40 pm (IST): Some T-Mobile users who switched from Verizon are facing an issue where they are unable to receive texts from other carriers (1, 2).

Also, the issue is not exactly new, since there are similar reports from a year ago. There is still no official acknowledgment from the company.

That said, a Redditor revealed that filing a complaint directly with the FCC can help get the issue fixed on your device.
