New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 25, 2023) follows:

Justin Roiland is one of the best-known names in the animation segment in recent years. And it is logical, since he is one of the co-creators of the successful show Rick and Morty.

That said, currently, the animator is facing domestic violence charges for events that allegedly occurred in 2020. So, it is possible that he will be involved in a long legal process.

Although there is still no court ruling, once the domestic violence charges became public, Adult Swim (the network that owns the rights to Rick and Morty) decided to do without Justin Roiland.

However, Rick and Morty is not the only show where Justin Roiland takes part, since he is also one of the co-creators of ‘Solar Opposites’, a Hulu series. Could the continuity of this show be in danger?

Could Solar Opposites be canceled due to the Justin Roiland controversy?

It’s worth pointing out that ‘cutting’ professional relationships with partners or employees in the midst of sensitive legal processes is not uncommon in the entertainment industry.

In fact, it seems to be a common practice to avoid the brand being in the middle of the controversy.

Regarding Solar Opposites, it is Disney who has the distribution rights. However, they stream the show through Hulu, another of their subsidiaries.

Disney is one of the companies that has a history of cutting professional relations in the midst of controversy. In 2018, they fired James Gunn as director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ because inappropriate jokes from the director arose.

Therefore, it would not be unusual for Disney to take similar action with respect to Justin Roiland. However, does this mean that Solar Opposites could be canceled ? Several fans of the show have been wondering that.

Adult Swim officially cut professional ties with Justin Roiland. Will Disney follow Turner’s lead? If so, what is the future of Solar Opposites with so many overlapping voices?

Roiland is also one of the main voices in his shows

One thing to note about Justin Roiland is that he gets deeply involved in the shows. He not only participates in the production, but is even key part of the voice cast.

In Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland plays Rick, one of the main characters. In this case, it has already been confirmed that the show will continue, but they will do a voice actor recast for his character.

Returning to Solar Opposites, the animator is the voice of Korvo, another protagonist. So, it is possible that something similar to what happened in Rick and Morty occurs (Solar Opposites not being cancelled, but using new voices).

In any case, we still cannot assume that both situations will occur in the same way. After all, both Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites belong to different companies, with their own policies.

Some fans are already offering their ideas for the show to continue with new voices:
