Apple HomePod range of smart speakers is quite popular among the masses thanks to its superb audio quality.

The company released a compact version of the first-generation HomePod in 2020, called the ‘HomePod mini’. The HomePod mini has similar features to the original one but at a lower price.

The smart speakers often receive updates that add to their feature set and also enhance their compatibility with other devices.

For instance, the HomePod mini recently received the HomePod OS v.16.3 update, which enabled the hidden temperature and humidity sensors.

However, users claim that the sensors display inaccurate results on the mini version.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), some HomePod mini owners are facing an issue where they get inaccurate results from the device’s temperature and humidity sensors.

Generally, the HomePod requires some time to calibrate the sensors. But users claim that they see incorrect readings even after having fully calibrated the sensors.

Is it just me or is the humidity sensor in the HomePod Mini pretty inaccurate? Both my Aqara and Govee sensors show way lower humidity with the windows open (~40%) – HomePod mini is showing around 58%.

In my case, the temperature is actually lower than the other sensors, and humidity it’s higher. All the other sensors(not the HomePods) are pretty much accurate to each other, so I am not sure that’s the issue

This is confusing to some given that this should not have been the case after calibrating the device for a few days.

Some allege that they face the issue even after restarting the device multiple times. They claim that their speaker and Hue motion sensor display different readings.

A user says that according to Apple, the readings in some situations may not be accurate because of the heat generated by the HomePod under load.
