Google Search app missing ‘Recent pages’ option

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6), some users are unable to view the recent pages option in the Google Search application.

It is displayed at the top inside the app’s general settings pane along with various other options such as autocomplete settings, the Discover option, auto-play video preview options, and much more.

But for some reason, perhaps a recently released app update, the option has disappeared mysteriously. Some also complain that it has become impossible for them to disable or turn off the setting as well.

Due to this issue, people are having trouble clearing the traces of recently visited web pages. This makes some feel that their privacy is violated.

Such a controversial step has raised questions for the company regarding user privacy, who are now requesting the company to bring back the option to the Google app.

Fortunately, a product expert on the support forums has escalated the issue for further investigation, but Google is yet to get back with an official word on the matter.
