Costco is quite a popular name in the retail and wholesale industries. It sells products to its customers at deeply discounted prices.

One can also opt for a membership in order to earn exclusive cashback and rewards on their purchases.

A customer just needs to log on to their website, after which they can choose from a plethora of products, exclusively available on their online portal.

The company has also launched mobile apps on Android and iOS, making it easy for one to shop conveniently and save time and money on the go.

However, Costco has come under criticism from its customers due to some issues with the store’s website and app forgetting member info, logging out users randomly, and missing support for ‘Scan and Go’ function.

Costco app criticized

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7), multiple users are having issues with the company’s apps and websites.

Some claim that they are experiencing difficulties while locating stores because it seems that the company’s database is missing information regarding the same.

Customers even complain that they are randomly logged out of the app.

They also get annoyed as the Costco app keeps forgetting registered members’ info, their paid membership subscription status, their nearest local store’s location, and much more.

I am a member of both BJs and Costco. When I need to go to Costco and search for items on their app or on their websites, their search engine sucks. You can never find anything easy like how you can with the BJs sites.

I’m sure this has been addressed many times, but why can’t Costco do an app or website that shows product availability?

Users also get irritated as they have to contact support on chat to check on the company’s warehouse inventory time and again.

These issues seem to have been persistent for quite some time, but the developers are yet to resolve them.

Some feel that both the company’s website and app need some changes in the UX/UI and new features like real-time inventory status, searchable receipts, fingerprint login and much more.

Users demand ‘Scan & Go’ feature

Even though the app may be of use to several users, others feel that it lacks some essential features that help one shop and checkout easily, such as the ‘Scan & Go’.

Some users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are of the view that Costco should also introduce the scan and go feature on their app just like Sam’s Club.

Was at @Costco for the second time this month when the credit card machines crashed lol. Maybe they should’ve invested in scan and go payment like @SamsClub instead of self checkout aisles.

Hey @costco when are you going to have a “scan and go” app like @SamsClub has? Your lines are atrocious.

We do hope that Costco will listen to the request and work on improving its app’s functionality and adding new and useful features to it.

That said, we’ll keep an eye on more related developments and update this story to reflect noteworthy information.
