[Updated] Venmo down or not working? You're not alone

PayPal owned service Venmo – which lets you make, split, and share payments – is currently down.

Reports are pouring in that the service is throwing “unexpected error” or “internal server error” while using the application or logging into it.

Take a look at some of the complaints:

@venmo can’t log in from the web. Several things like add a bank not working from mobile. Are you sure the green bill of health reported by http://status.venmo.com is true? (Source)

So apparently, users are facing more than one problems with the app. We checked the service’s official Twitter account, but there has been no official word on the matter so far.

There’s also no update regarding this issue on the official Venmo site – none of the help articles there currently say anything about this problem.

If this massive Venmo outage – which has affected a very large number of users – is affecting you as well, rest assured, as we’re keeping an active tab on the matter, and will update this story as and when any newsworthy developments happens.

10:05 am (IST): A section of users has taken to Twitter (1, 2, 3, 4) to report that Venmo app is currently down or not working for them. Luckily, the support team has acknowledged the problem and said that they are working to fix it.

07:30 pm (IST): It appears that the recent issue with the Venmo app has now been resolved as we haven’t seen any widespread reports concerning the same.

12:48 pm (IST): Venmo users report being unable to transfer money to other accounts (1, 2).

02:03 pm (IST): The issue that was affecting Venmo transfers has now been resolved.

02:27 am (IST): Venmo users are currently unable to log in or access the service, according to reports (1, 2, 3).

03:08 am (IST): Although both platforms do not appear to be directly related, the current Venmo issues could be due to a nation-wide outage on the Square platform. More on that here.

03:58 pm (IST): Lack of reports suggest that the recent outage with Venmo has now been resolved.

08:40 pm (IST): Venmo is currently down and not working according to reports on Twitter (1,2,3,4) and Downdetector.

Users claim they get a ‘Something went wrong’ error when trying to use the app.

09:15 am (IST): The latest reported Venmo server issues already appear to have been resolved.

07:11 am (IST): According to fresh reports (1, 2, 3) Venmo app is down and not working.

08:25 am (IST): Venmo app is now working correctly again after server issues have been resolved.
