The Google Pixel Watch is quite a popular smart wearable device. But according to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6), some Pixel Watch users are unable to activate the Fitbit Premium trial membership on their devices.
Every customer who purchases a Pixel Watch is offered a complimentary Fitbit Premium 6-months free trial. But some users are unable to do so because of this issue.
Pixel Watch owners have taken to social media to express their concerns on the matter. One said even after syncing the Fitbit app and their Pixel Watch, they never got any pop-up or promo offer.
Every time I go to start membership on the Fitbit app, I choose payment method and subscribe, then I get an error transaction cannot be completed. To continue this transaction, use a different payment instrument. I’ve tried 3 different payment methods, all result in the same error. I’m on pixel 7 pro. My cards are all valid.
I’m also new to android so maybe I’m missing something..not sure.

I purchased a Google Pixel Watch on October 2022, and activated on October 12. I read that I have a 6 month fitbit premium free trial, but now I received an email that says that I will get charged starting on January 12 2023 (just 3 months after the device activation)

Potential workaround
Fortunately, we did come across a potential workaround that may help activate the 6 months of Fitbit Premium trial membership on their Pixel Watch.
As suggested in the Google Support forums, one could try uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app on their devices.
After doing so, you can activate the membership without any hiccups.
Only getting option for 90 days
However, some users report (1,2,3,4,5,6) another issue where they are just being offered a complimentary 90-day subscription instead of the advertised 6 months.
The issue seems to be affecting users across different countries.
When I follow the link provided I only get offered a 90 day trial. Also, I cannot get my Pixel Watch to login to FitBit as it won’t add as a device on the phone (which is a Pixel 6).

Anyone else only get a 90 day trail? I thought it was supposed to be 6 months

Some people feel discriminated against as a result of this and are demanding that they should be provided the 6-month trial like others before them.
Potential workaround for 90 days subscription issue
Those who are only able to activate the Premium membership for a time span of 90 days should accept the trial offer, and when their trial is about to expire, they should cancel their subscription.
After this, they can again activate the 3-month trial membership and in this way can complete the full 6 months trial.
We hope that Fitbit will soon resolve the membership activation-related issues.
That said, we’ll keep an eye on the issue where Google Pixel Watch owners are unable to activate the free 6-month Fitbit Premium trial and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
