As more and more organizations shift to remote work, the use of collaboration and communication tools such as Microsoft Teams has become increasingly important.

Among the many features that users have come to rely on, one of the most requested has been the ability to switch between multiple accounts or use multiple accounts simultaneously.

This feature would allow users to easily switch between their work and personal accounts, or to access multiple work accounts at the same time.

However, recently the company confirmed that support for multiple accounts is being worked on as a priority feature and might arrive soon.

Microsoft Teams support for account switching a top priority

Microsoft Teams users have been asking for support for account switching or the ability to use multiple accounts for some time now (1,2,3,4,5).

Enable usage of multiple Teams accounts at the same time
Please allow us to use multiple accounts at the same. Many of us have several Office 365 accounts for various reasons (consulting, etc), and we’d need to be able to access teams directly.

This feature request has been a popular topic on various feedback portals.

Although it was not on the official roadmap until December 2022, support for using multiple accounts at the same time has now been given an official confirmation and is being worked on as a priority feature.

An ETA for its availability has not been confirmed yet, but updates will be shared as soon as they are available.

It is worth noting that Teams currently does not support multiple accounts unless one of them is personal. This has been a limitation for users who need to switch between work and personal accounts.

Teams doesn’t allow for multiple accounts in Teams unless one of them is a personal account. Multiple non-personal accounts connected to employers, schools, and other organizations cannot both be logged into Teams at one time.

In addition to account switching, there are several other feature requests that are being considered or reviewed by Microsoft Teams devs. These include:

1. Changing the default landing page for Teams and/or Channels.

2. Enabling private channels to schedule meetings.

Thank you for your feedback! The ask to support scheduling meetings in private channels is being reviewed by the feature team. Please keep commenting, and check back for future updates!

3. The ability to edit events in the Teams Channel Calendar.

Additionally, the developers also appear to be considering requests for other concerns like private chat with a user while in a meeting and multiple people sharing their screens at the same time.

It is important to note that none of these feature requests have received official confirmation yet, but the Microsoft Teams team is actively reviewing them and will provide updates as they become available.

We hope that Microsoft Teams developers consider the account switching requests and make them available so as to add to the convenience for the majority of users.

Until then, stay tuned as we will update the story with noteworthy developments, if any.
