YouTube and TikTok are two of the most popular social media platforms. This keeps users hooked to them thanks to the countless hours of videos and shorts hosted on their platforms.

Some content creators and social media influencers take advantage of their broad audience reach to make a video go viral and start a trend quite often.

Such trends are quickly followed by the audience, and they attempt to replicate the same at their end.

For instance, recently TikTok users followed the ‘It Was Never That Serious‘ trend in which one had to describe a situation where they overreacted to a matter that was truly never that serious and post a video about the same.

One such trend that has recently gone viral is ‘The Waffle House has found its new host’, which in reality has no purpose or meaning behind it.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), social media platforms have been flooded with such posts and comments that are causing confusion and arousing curiosity as well.

Started by YouTuber Jonny RaZeR Shorts as a joke experiment with the intention of just trolling a little bit, it has now become a major headache for some.

Apparently, he made a video telling his followers to put ‘The Waffle House has found its new host’ comment under every video after January 31 but within a few hours, multiple social media portals were flooded with some variations of phrase.

Since the trend has just recently emerged, some users don’t even have the proper information on it and are quite surprised to see others spamming their content by repeatedly posting the same irritating line.

This is honestly the most irritating thing ever. Im tryna look at some actually interesting comments and some useless worthless people are constantly posting this everywhere.

After witnessing the problems faced by their users, YouTube has started flagging those who are trying to spam their platform.

For instance, when a user tried following the chain by posting this comment, he received the following message.

You shouldn’t blindly follow anything that surfaces over the web as such spamming can be marked under the anti-harassment or cyberbullying policy and you can end up getting permanently banned from the platform.

How to block the comments on YouTube

Fortunately, we did come across a potential workaround that may help some YouTube creators get rid of the annoying ‘The Waffle House has found its new host’ comments from their content.

For this, one needs to add the entire phrase in the blocked words in YouTube Studio settings.

Unfortunately, we were not able to get our hands on any hack that may help solve this annoyance for TikTok users.

That said, we’ll keep an eye on the issue and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.

Update 1 (January 17, 2023)

06:10 pm (IST): Johnny RaZeR Shorts, the person who started the trend, has uploaded a new video explaining the meme and what its intentions are.

Update 2 (January 18, 2023)

01:10 pm (IST): It seems that the trend has taken a weird turn on Reddit. Some users have formed armies for Waffle House and IHOP (a popular competitor).

Both parties (1,2,3) are seemingly having an ongoing war where they attack (possibly by just spamming phrases) and infiltrate each other’s community. This is funny, weird, and fascinating, all at the same time.

I have snuck in to the waffle house discord, about to retreve their plans.
