Published by Blizzard Entertainment, World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). It is the fourth release set in Warcraft fantasy universe.

Players control a character avatar within a game world in third or first-person view, exploring the landscape, fighting various monsters, completing quests, and interacting with non-player characters (NPCs) or other players.

The game, quite like other counterparts, at times keeps getting bugs and issues that disappoint the players. For instance, we recently highlighted an issue where the game’s server was down.

World of Warcraft party or raid group auto-disband issue

A WoW party is a group of players who have joined together to complete quests or defeat enemies. A raid is a larger group of players, typically consisting of 10-30 players who come together to complete more challenging quests.

Auto-disband is a feature that can be used to automatically disband a party or raid group after a certain period of inactivity.

This can be useful for groups that are formed for a specific purpose such as completing a quest or defeating a boss and are not meant to be permanent.

But some players have been reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) issues with their party or raid groups getting automatically disbanded while doing dungeons or raids.

Anyone having issues with with doing dungeons or raid and being Disband, the entire party I was with was in the middle of a M+ and whole party was Disbanded and It happened also in flight over to the dungeon.

When we all ported out and arrived at the flight point a mass of people also was there complaining about the same thing that happened. Is this going to be an issue with raiding tonight?

Yesterday and today, groups and raids I’ve been in are being disbanded by some bug. It happened yesterday on the way to the dungeon, and again today in the middle of my key. I couldn’t even reinvite the party and continue the key, despite being the original group leader.

Those affected have taken to forums and social media platforms to express their concerns on the issue and seek a solution.

Some players have also reported that their entire group gets disbanded while doing Mythic+ or in area 52, a high-level dungeon.

Few have reported that their whole party or raid group gets disbanded while in the middle of a dungeon or raid, which is frustrating and disruptive to the overall experience.

Potential workaround

We have come across a workaround that may potentially solve the problem for some players.

Raid randomly disbanding – Draenor
Anyone else have this issue? Our raid gets randomly disbanding on Terros HC, this happend a 2nd time just now, this is weird
Edit: If someone from another realm creates your raid the lag is gone

This involves letting someone from another realm create a raid for you. However, this workaround is not guaranteed to work and may not always be feasible.

Official acknowledgment

Fortunately, Blizzard has acknowledged the issue and claims to be actively investigating the cause.

We hope that World of Warcraft developers solves the party or raid group auto-disband issue as soon as possible for the ones affected.
