Nobody wants to crack their expensive iPhone, after all, they come at a cost. And while Apple claims that their iPhones feature one of the toughest glass bodies, sometimes we might just go out of luck.

So, it’s always effective to put on a case to better protect the iPhone from scratches or any unforeseen accidents.

Apple itself offers a wide range of cases and covers that are compatible with its MagSafe charging technology. So, most iPhone users opt for official cases rather than any third-party brands.

However, just like Apple’s any other product, even the basic silicone case for iPhone costs pretty high. And thus, its buyers expect it to last longer while not deteriorating.

But it seems that some iPhone owners with official silicone cases aren’t quite happy with the quality that Apple has to offer. For quite some time, users have been reporting that their silicone cases are wearing off (1, 2).

Furthermore, an alleged former Apple employee has also confirmed that the quality of Apple’s silicone cases is not good enough.

EDIT: Former employee here. Those cases are the worst. They all fall apart, usually faster than anticipated. if you’re going buy an apple branded case, get the leather ones. They actually last as long as you’d expect. (Source)

While it’s completely normal for silicone cases to wear out after a year of regular use, the fact that Apple’s official cases are expensive makes the situation serious.

And as per reports (1, 2), the quality issue with these cases has been there for years and sadly, Apple didn’t take any measures to improve it.

Official iPhone silicon case alternatives:

There are various third-party brands that manufacture cases for iPhones at a much more affordable rate and with better quality.

That said, if you aren’t happy with your existing silicone case from Apple, then we have sorted out some of the best alternatives for you.

1. Apple leather cases – If you want to stick with Apple, then you can opt for the leather cases, instead of the silicone ones as they have proven to be more durable.
