YouTube is one of the most popular online video-sharing and social media platforms, catering to the needs of its audience globally.

Ever since its inception, it has expanded beyond its core website to mobile apps, IPTV, and much more. It also keeps adding new features to its services to keep up with the competition.

The video-streaming platform is soon going to launch the ‘Add to Queue’ functionality for testing on Android and iOS phones.

This feature will allow one to add videos that they may desire to watch later in a mini playlist which may further be moved back.

But like any other platform, YouTube also suffers from occasional bugs and glitches that may affect user experiences.

For instance, we recently covered an issue where some get the ‘Something went wrong’ error while trying to play any YouTube video on iOS devices.

YouTube video views dropping or disappearing

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple creators have recently been experiencing an issue where the view count on a video keeps on decreasing time and again.

Someone on Twitter even complained that their videos were showing zero views for multiple hours.

The issue seems to have popped up recently and seems to be affecting users across different devices. This has also caused anger and frustration among some content creators on YouTube.

@TeamYouTube I had a video that was doing so well. My best performing video by a mile and of course now there’s a bug removing all those views and lowering my Click rate. Please fix this and revert the ctr and return my views please…

@TeamYouTube Today 5hrs down time, views getting lost, What is happening, others are tweeting about same, please fix it ASAP, my new uploaded video had 49% up views and was going to recommendations, but it went below 10% up due to this bug.

YouTube is deleting views. This video was over 17k and everytime I refresh they keep removing more and more views. @TeamYouTube please do something about this

Some feel disappointed due to this bug as it hampers them from earning fairly on their created content. This has ended up creating hindrances for those who have uploaded videos.

Official response

Fortunately, YouTube has officially acknowledged the issue and is currently working on fixing it. Although, it must be noted that no official ETA for the same has been shared as of now.

We hope that YouTube soon fixes the view count issue with their platform.

Update 1 (Jan. 11, 2023)

11:07 am (IST): YouTube support has confirmed that the real-time viewership drop will not affect creators’ earnings.

As far as the view count that was affected for previously uploaded content, we are working to correct the data now! This realtime views will be restored and should not impact any earnings. (Source)

Update 2 (Jan. 12, 2023)

10:08 am (IST): TeamYoutube has confirmed that the recent issue with views dropping has now been resolved. However, some users are still reporting this problem.

And we recommend you to wait for some time as the fix could be rolling out in phases.
