Although cryptocurrencies existed before Bitcoin but none gained popularity like them. So Ledger Live provides a platform for crypto fanatics to follow the market and manage their portfolio.
With Ledger Live 2.51 released on December 22nd, 2022 it is no longer compatible with Windows 7 and now supports the EIP-712 standard.
Ledger Live synchronization error
However, some Ledger Live users are facing synchronization error when trying to link with their BTC wallet (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8).
The affected users say that they get an ‘Unexpected’ or ‘something went wrong ’ error when trying to add their BTC wallet account to Ledger Live.
According to the support, this error may occur when there is or has been a temporary problem with Ledger’s blockchain explorers or network.
Also, this issue affects desktop and mobile apps where troubleshooting methods like logging in and out of the Ledger account, uninstalling, and reinstalling the app won’t work.

The troubleshooting article by the developers mentions that clearing the cache and updating Ledger Live can fix the issue:
But it seems these methods don’t seem to work for some users (1,2):
@Ledger_Support I’ve updated my ledger and cleared my cache but my ledger still wont synchronize. It gives an error “unexpected” and only does it for my Btc wallet, but my ethereum wallet is fine.

Ledger users face a similar syncing issue with their Polkadot account. So, we are hopeful that the developers will come up with a fix soon.
Furthermore, a private key is Ledger, and the actual BTC is on the blockchain so not being able to sync has nothing to do with the safety of your assets.
That said, we will keep an eye out for the latest developments regarding this issue and update this story as and when anything noteworthy comes up.
