Developed by Epic Games, Fortnite is quite a popular name in the third-person shooter survival genre.

The game recently received the v23.10 January 3 hotfix, which added some new content and brought several changes to the gameplay.

For instance, the update introduced the first mid-season drop and a Guardian Shield. The shield helps protect players by deploying a protective barrier in front of them and blocking any incoming damage.

However, like any other game, Fortnite also suffers from occasional bugs and issues. For instance, we recently covered an issue where the game’s ‘Shockwave Hammer’ was overpowered, and players had asked for a nerf.

And now, according to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), some players are facing an issue where the red dot appears to be missing in the scoped view of the Red-Eye assault rifle.

The Red-Eye assault rifle is a slow-firing, fully automatic rifle with good damage and has a headshot multiplier of 1.65x. Although, one needs to reload the weapon without aiming.

Also, it seems like the bug affects players across multiple platforms, as some tried to crossplay the game on Windows PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles but the issue persists.

Some have been reporting the missing red dot while scoping with red-eye rifles for quite a long time, but the issue remains unfixed as of now.

Some Fortnite players (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) are also facing difficulties when combating their opponents since they are unable to sprint while playing the game.

A Redditor also complained that they lose their ability to sprint while in the middle of a game or when running to avoid being hit by a sniper.

It seems like every other game I and the person I play with have to go back to the lobby because we can’t run, which completely ruins the game.

@FortniteGame @FortniteStatus this not being able to sprint is getting ridiculous. Just noticed that when I couldn’t sprint the Red-Eye Assault Rifle didn’t have a red dot.

The issue has been affecting gamers for quite some time, and due to this, they are unable to enjoy a hassle-free gameplay experience.

Official acknowledgment

Fortunately, the game’s developers have officially acknowledged the issue where players are unable to sprint and are currently working on fixing it. But there’s still no word on the red dot glitch.

However, no ETA has been provided for the same. Hopefully, it won’t be long before a fix arrives.

Potential workaround

We did come across a potential workaround that may help solve the ‘sprinting’ problem for some.

You can check beforehand whether you are able to sprint before a match starts. If not able to do so, you should then quit the match and start again.

Also, if you have already joined a team match, then you have to respawn after dying after which the sprint-related issue should no longer occur.

This happens to me a lot too. If you die and get rebooted, it usually resets and makes it so you can sprint again. They need to fix this and the dumb glitch of taking fall damage while using the hammer.
