Original story (published on December 26, 2022) follows:

Spotify is a well-known music streaming platform that caters to the needs of millions of users.

Due to its integration with different apps and services, Spotify gives one the freedom to enjoy a plethora of music from various artists on a large number of devices.

With the addition of services such as podcasts and the expansion to different countries worldwide, it has become one of the largest platforms in its league, witnessing a significant increase in its user base.

However, Spotify, like any other popular music streaming platform, has its fair share of issues from time to time. If you are experiencing difficulties with music playback, then you are not alone.

Spotify repeating same two songs even with ‘Shuffle’ enabled

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8), multiple users are facing an issue while playing songs that are queued or within a playlist in their Spotify app.

Some complain that even though the repetition mode is off, songs are playing repeatedly at random intervals during the playback. The problem also occurs when the shuffle mode is turned on in the app.

Also, when one tries to remove a song that they may not like, the app duplicates the same or some other track already in the queue rather than removing it.

Some report that even though their playlist is more than 60 hours long, it keeps on repeating the same set of five songs during the playback every now and then.

Hey @SpotifyCares, my songs keep on repeating in my playlists and have been doing so since yesterday. Like the same song over and over that I just played randomly and then repeats another song I just played.

Several users feel annoyed because of these issues, as they prevent them from enjoying music tracks from their favorite artists.

A user on Reddit also complained about another problem where, if one pauses a song for a few minutes and tries to resume the playback after some time, it would move to the beginning of the playlist or album.

Official response

Fortunately, Spotify took notice of the problem affecting multiple users. It has asked the affected ones to provide the company with some details related to the problem.

This would help them accurately diagnose the problem and also help them fix it.

Potential workaround
