Just in case you’re trying to get your head around why Virgin Media broadband and TV isn’t working for you, find solace in the fact that you aren’t the only one facing issues lately.
A quick look at the micro-blogging site Twitter conveys there are many others affected by the same issue. As per reports, while some say the service isn’t working or broken for them, for others it throws an error or notification stating – “Sorry, we have a problem“.
For a quick glance, here’s how some of the complainants word the problem:
@virginmedia your website seems to be down and I want to sign up for broadband. It’s there a number I can call?
@virginmedia can’t believe 7 days later the WiFi has gone down again. We are all working from home, the area is affected, can’t get through to anyone as I keep getting directed to different pages of the website! Please help!!
@virginmedia Your live chat isn’t loading and your link to making a complaint re broadband is broken. Do you have an email I can contact you on?
Is the Service Down – a popular service that gives information about live outages – also conveys that Virgin Media is indeed going through a glitch in the UK as can be seen in the image below:
This further suggests that a lot of subscribers are affected, while a fix for the same is still awaited. Also, it is unclear what the actual cause of this outage is but it sure is causing a lot of inconveniences.
Any official word on the matter? Negative, as yet. We’re yet to locate a word from the official service channels or their social media handles.

Update 1 (July 12)
Going by reports populating on Twitter Virgin Media users are encountering internet issues. Following are some of the reports:

Update 2 (July 15)
Many users have stormed Twitter to complain that their Virgin Media broadband or Wi-Fi has stopped working in London. The company is yet to confirm an outage in the region.
Update 3 (July 16)
While users continue to complain about the Internet, Virgin Media has acknowledged an area-specific issue. Here’s what they say:
We are aware of an incident which has damaged some of our underground cables and is causing a loss of services for some customers in the Lewisham area. Our engineers are on site and are working to restore services as quickly as possible.
Update 4 (August 18)
It seems that Virgin Media TV subscribers are facing issues with the service as many have taken to Twitter to seek an official response on the matter. Reports suggest users are seeing the ‘error 503’ message while trying to view content on it.
The company — via Twitter — confirmed that the issue is mainly impacting laptops/PCs but is working on Android and iOS.

Update 5 (August 23)
Some Virgin Media subscribers have been facing issues with the service for a few days. The company’s support team has once again confirmed that they’re aware of an issue affecting multiple households.

Unfortunately, there’s still no workaround or estimated time frame for when the issue will be fixed.
Update 6 (September 30)
Reports on social platforms such as Twitter suggest that many Virgin Media broadband subscribers are facing issues with the service in Dublin. Luckily, the team seems to be aware of the outage and claimed that a fix is in the works.

The issue was finally resolved after a few hours since the outage began, as confirmed by Virgin Media support for the region.

04:46 pm (IST): Fresh reports on Twitter indicate that Virgin media is currently down or not working for many.
Luckily, Virgin Media on Twitter has acknowledged the outage with their service and said that they are working to resolve it.

06:50 pm (IST): The recent outage with Virgin Media is seemingly resolved as we haven’t come across any fresh reports on Downdetector.

03:36 pm (IST): Many subscribers have taken to Twitter to report that Virgin Media is currently down or not working for them.
Luckily, Virgin Media support has acknowledged the issue and said that they are currently investigating it. However, there is no ETA for the fix.
