Netflix is undoubtedly one of the most popular streaming platforms around the world. It lets you watch your favorite movies, shows, or series online anywhere.
You can also watch the downloaded content at your convenience. The platform further makes for a comfortable experience by providing features like captions, playback speed, and more.
However, it becomes quite an issue when the captions or subtitles don’t function properly. We saw the troubled state of users’ minds where Hulu’s captions were badly synced.
Netflix closed-captions inaccurate or out of sync
And now, a number of Netflix users (1,2,3,4,5) are reporting an issue with the buggy closed captions or subtitles as they’re sometimes inaccurate or out-of-sync.
The subtitles for #3percentNetflix are horrendous @netflix likeeeee seriously!!!

netflix subtitles sometimes just be making shit up could be complete silence and it will say [Car horn blares]

Reports suggest that the streaming platform is not showing captions for foreign languages (1,2,3). Instead of showing the translated subtitles it merely says ‘[speaking foreign language]’.
There are also some cases where it shows various typos in the closed captions. Sometimes, it even never shows subtitles for an entire sentence.
Additionally, there is another bug where some of the content’s captions or subtitles are not properly timed or appear out of sync (1,2).

why are the Netflix captions so horribly timed?

It is bound to create confusion since the words that are displayed on the screen do not correspond to the sounds or pictures that are being played.
Some even claim that captions are difficult to read, therefore Netflix should consider adding a background.
No official word in sight
Unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t acknowledged the issue where some of the content is showing incorrect or out-of-sync captions.
We have also not come across a workaround that can help fix this issue temporarily.
We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update the article as and when we come across something noteworthy.
