Escape from Tarkov is a popular multiplayer game in the tactical first-person shooter genre. One can enjoy hours of hardcore fighting experience on their Windows-based PC.

The game recently got a new update v0.13, tweaking the gameplay and adding a new feature set to it. For instance, some changes were made to the repair kits, skill sets, weapons and equipment, and much more.

Furthermore, new Light Armor and Heavy Armor skillsets, grenade launchers such as GP-25 “Kostyor” and M203, and new guns like SR-2M “Veresk” and Steyr AUG A1 were added to the game.

Also, changes made to its ‘cooperative game mode’ made the gameplay more exciting for players. But everything is far from rosy.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple players are currently experiencing problems while trying to download the ‘Escape from Tarkov’ game.

Users complain that it takes longer to download the game. The issue is said to have occurred when one tries to download it with the help of the official launcher.

Since most gamers don’t have such an enormous amount of time, they feel frustrated and annoyed.

@bstategames @tarkov even the reinstall isn’t really working. File has been downloading for 20 minutes. Steam and other apps seem unaffected by slow download speeds. I tested just to make sure.

The bug seems to have affected players for quite some time and some are yet to fully download and install a copy of the game on their machines.

Players are also experiencing slow download speeds when attempting to download the most recent patch, which is significantly slower than normal.

Some even questioned the point of having a high-bandwidth connection installed if the developers couldn’t balance the load on their servers.

Even though the developer claims that the ‘technical issues’ have been resolved at their end, gamers are still facing persistent problems.

Some have tried general troubleshooting steps such as checking network cables and the modem and restarting or reinstalling the launcher but to no avail.

Potential workaround

We did come across some potential workarounds that could help solve the problem for some players. It has been suggested that users make some tweaks to the network settings with the help of the PowerShell.

One needs to enter the following commands on the PowerShell prompt.

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

You can also try downloading the entire game with the help of a VPN with the server set to a US-based location. The same has been suggested for those having trouble patching their game to the latest version.

Also, pausing and restarting the download on the launcher seems to have boosted the progress for some, so you can also try this option.

Unfortunately, if the above-mentioned workarounds don’t work, you’ll have to wait for some time until the problem is resolved by the developers.
