Developed by Electronic Arts, Madden NFL 23 is one of the most popular titles in the football game category and is available on a variety of platforms worldwide, including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Even though Madden NFL 23 is a major improvement over the previous installments, it has received mixed reviews from critics.

The game offers in-app purchases, including special add-on packs. Recently, the developers introduced some ‘Present Packs’ addons for players during the holiday season, which one could buy.


Several types of ‘Present Packs’, each with a different rating player card, are available to choose from. Gamers could choose from a variety of add-on packs to strengthen their teams.

One could also trade in their existing team players in order to get high-rated players. Reportedly, games have been primarily facing issues with the ‘Large Present Pack’.

Players received wrong player items

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) multiple players have been facing an issue where they have received the wrong player cards as opposed to what they were supposed to get.

In the Large Present Pack, one was supposed to receive 88+ overall player cards, all the way up to a 94 rating. But, reportedly, gamers kept on getting 80 – 84 rated players’ cards instead of what they were supposed to receive.

Due to this issue, players felt angry and were in a dismay.


I opened my glitchy packs rbis morning and didn’t receive ANYTHING that I was supposed to ! Please do something for your loyal customers that spend their hard earned time and money for a product that was promised and not received

So packs were terrible this morning cus they were wrong, not just mislabeled. And 2 make it worse, ppl opening up later received more of those packs then they had, and those packs gave out nothing but 93+…a very Happy Holiday for a lucky few I guess

Soon after the issue arose, developers rushed to fix it but could not resolve the problem completely.

Even though players who had opened the ‘Large Present Pack’ after the developers took action did not face any issues, the ones who had already opened it were stuck with lower-rated player cards.

This made the gameplay unfair for some. The affected players felt left out.

Madden 23 Present Packs missing or disappeared

Several gamers have reported (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) another issue with the game in which the player cards appeared to be missing from their inventories.

Reportedly, some had opened their ‘Present Packs’ beforehand but due to constant connection issues from the server side, the player cards mysteriously disappeared.

Gamers reported a drastic decrease in the number of cards present in their inventory within a single day.

Some gamers had even sold out their team players in order to buy new higher-rated player cards so that they could strengthen their team and win more matches.


Disappointing the time and money spent grinding to get the presents. Got up looking forward to seeing what players I got. And between the constant server errors. Then even opening presents wasn’t sure if I got them all open or not by what was showing on the open pack notification. I hope Madden works out this bug going forward

I had 80 small presents, got booted then came back to 20 smalls. What the hell is going on? And that’s just the small presents.

Some people also complained that the “presents” were mislabeled and that they couldn’t figure out which one was which. This made the gameplay difficult for some, as they faced problems while forming or upgrading their teams.

The affected player took to social media to put up a demand for refund or get free players in exchange.

Official acknowledgment

Fortunately, the company has officially acknowledged and fixed some of the game’s previously known issues with the packs. They are now working on fixing any of the remaining issues with the gameplay.


That said, we will keep an eye on the issue where the Madden 23 Present Packs seem to be missing or have disappeared for some and update this story as new information becomes available.
