New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on Dec 26, 2022) follows:

Hulu is undoubtedly one of the most popular options for people who love streaming TV shows and movies. The platform has been a tough competitor to giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

However, certain features may occasionally break or misbehave for users of the streaming service. For instance, we previously covered an issue where recorded content played with a blank or black screen.

It appears that some Hulu subscribers are now experiencing a different issue with its ‘Lists’ functionality.

Hulu users unable to remove episodes

Some have recently been reporting (1,2,3,4,5) a bug that makes it impossible for Hulu users to remove episodes from lists such as ‘Keep watching’ or ‘My stuff’.

Can’t mark all seasons as watched. Can’t remove shows no longer interested in from My Stuff, nothing but complaints on the web when trying to find answers.

Generally, a person may add content to these lists as a way of remembering the shows or episodes that should be on their watchlist. When they are done watching them, the episodes are simply removed by the user.

But several Hulu users are noticing an issue where episodes do not leave their ‘Keep watching’ or ‘My stuff’ lists even after they’ve manually removed them.

This is incredibly frustrating because it hinders the entire purpose of having such lists in the first place. If they are just going to show content that I’ve already seen, what’s the point of even having them?

I’ve repeatedly tried removing shows from my “continue watching” and they keep reappearing. I don’t have them saved to My Stuff, they are no longer in my watch history, and I’ve gone the extra mile and marked them as “dislike”.

The shows or episodes keep reappearing over and over again. Even clicking the ‘Dislike’ button on the platform does not help in mitigating the issue.

It seems that the bug is not limited to the above-mentioned lists and affects the ‘Continue watching’ space as well.

Official acknowledgment

Fortunately, Hulu developers are aware of the issue where users are unable to remove episodes from their ‘Keep watching’ or ‘My stuff’ lists and are currently investigating it.

Meanwhile, affected ones can potentially fix the issue by following the steps mentioned by this user:

the only way I could fix this was go to account -> click “California privacy rights” -> select watch history and hit clear. This removed everything I was currently watching but I’d rather start over than keep dealing with this. 🙁 boo hulu. Good luck!

We hope the developers are able to find the root cause behind the problem and fix it as soon as possible. We’ll keep an eye on this topic and update this story to reflect noteworthy developments.

Update 1 (Februrary 2, 2023)

16:00 pm (IST): According to reports (1,2,3), users are facing issues with the service even after a month.

Even though Hulu Support claims that they are currently investigating the matter, no official ETA for the fix has been provided.

12:51 pm (IST): A Redditor has suggested a potential workaround to fix this issue. For that, you just have to go to the last episode of what you want to remove from the list and start playing it a minute or two before it ends.

Hulu will register that you’ve watched it. You now just have to refresh the page and it should be gone.

04:40 pm (IST): One of our readers has found a solution to this problem. They suggested going to the very last episode in the last season of the show you want to remove and skipping to the end and refreshing the page.

I just found a solution! If there shows you dont want to watch anymore, go the very last episode in the last season of that show and you skip to the end, refresh the page and it shouldn’t be there anymore. I just did this and it actually worked!
