Spotify Premium is for those who want to enjoy ad-free music and listen offline. Other superior features include the ability to listen everywhere, the freedom to pay anyhow, and more.

However, even Premium users face issues with the subscription every now and then. For instance, we previously highlighted how Spotify Premium users were receiving podcast ads.

Spotify asking users to renew Premium subscription

Some users (1,2,3,4) are now incredibly frustrated that they repeatedly get a pop-up asking them to renew their Spotify Premium subscription even after canceling.

@Spotify I recently cancelled my subscription because…I’m poor. Every time I go back to the app hit with a pop up asking me to renew.

These constant alerts are extremely frustrating for users as there is no option to disable them. It seems that they also keep appearing every time they open the app.

It surely ruins the ‘uninterrupted’ flow of their music. It also prompts some to even pause or skip their song in order to get rid of the pop-up.

Even when users have a few days until their subscription ends after cancelation, they keep getting the following message:

Possible explanation

It is plausible that Spotify is sending this subscription pop-up because they are aware that a user will be leaving the Premium plan in a few days. So, in order to get them to stick around they are using this annoying trick.

Unfortunately, Spotify hasn’t commented on the issue or shed any light on the users’ presumptions that the platform is trying to trick them back into paying.

We’ll keep tabs on further developments and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
