New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 21, 2022) follows:

Fortnite, Epic Games’ hit third-person battle royale, has become a pop culture phenomenon. The game constantly collaborates with some of the most iconic classic and recent franchises.

In its most recent update, Fortnite got some characters from the My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) manga and anime series. Not only skins of the characters, but also some of their abilities.

Deku, the main protagonist of the franchise, is among the characters to choose from. However, it seems that the ‘Deku Smash’ Mythic ability was a bit unbalanced or overpowered, so it has been temporarily disabled from Fortnite.

Fortnite ‘Deku Smash’ overpowered according to players

‘Deku Smash’ is a powerful ability where the character hits the ground or surfaces with his fist and creates a shock wave that damages surrounding opponents (and even destroys structures).

However, according to multiple reports, its implementation could break matches. There seem to be two main complaints regarding the ability: the damage it deals and how difficult it is to dodge.

Apparently, the range of the Deku Smash in Fortnite was very high. This made it extremely difficult to dodge the blow.

The other issue has to do with how much damage it deals. According to reports, the Deku Smash practically guarantees a ‘one-shoot kill’.

Is anyone else sick of the deku smash?

Everyone I play with is tired of being one shot. People are not playing because of the bugs and top it off with that! I think I may have to join them.

This is not the first time Fortnite players have reported similar situations. The Shockwave Hammer also offers great advantages and few drawbacks.

Fortnite ‘Deku Smash’ temporarily disabled

The multiple player complaints reached the ears of the Epic Games team. After analyzing the situation, they decided that the ability was indeed unbalanced.

So, they temporarily disable it until they can implement it better. But, there is still no ETA for the return of ‘Deku Smash’ to Fortnite.

We will update this story as events unfold.

Update 1 (Dec. 22, 2022)

03:51 pm (IST): Ever since Fortnite disabled ‘Deku Smash’ after repeated complaints of it being overpowered, it seems that some players (1,2,3,4,5,6) are not happy with it.

Therefore, they are now asking the developers to enable it again.

Bring the deku smash back. It was fun 🙁
