Apple has always put extra attention to privacy and security-related features in their devices. The iPhones/iPads are especially strict and relatively harder to maliciously unlock, jailbreak or even hack into.

This is what makes them so desirable to those concerned about their data and privacy. However, the same security features become incredibly annoying when you forget your password for the 10th time in a row.

Or maybe you purchased it second-hand and forgot to get it unlocked from the previous owner. In situations like these, you’d find yourself stuck at an ‘Activation Lock’ screen preventing you from going forward.

This is due to the ‘Find My’ feature on iOS that primarily helps users locate and protect their lost or stolen devices. While the feature serves an extremely useful function, it can be a nightmare to get around its protection.

But you can certainly bribe this guard and get entry to the club. In more technical terms, there are ways to bypass or unlock the iCloud Activation Lock on your iPhone or iPad.

Unlock an iCloud locked iPhone using DNS Bypass

iCloud DNS Bypass is generally used to access various functions of iCloud-locked devices. When you try to activate an iOS device, it first connects to the DNS and then gets in touch with Apple’s servers.

However, if you somehow add a third-party DNS in the device’s settings, you can connect it to various custom servers that are specifically built to help you bypass the Activation Lock.

Here are the steps to unlock any iCloud-locked iPhone using DNS Bypass:

1. Turn on your iPhone/iPad and choose your language and country.

2. When you reach the WiFi network page, connect to your preferred network and tap the ‘i’ option to open its details.

3. Now find the ‘Configure DNS’ option and change its setting from ‘Automatic’ to ‘Manual’.

4. Go through the DNS servers mentioned below and enter the one that applies to your region.

  • USA: 104.154.51.7
  • Europe: 104.155.28.90
  • Asia: 104.155.220.58
  • South America: 35.199.88.219
  • Australia and Oceania: 35.189.47.23

5. Now go back and do not proceed with the prompt that appears on your screen. Hit back once again and you should be able to see the DNS server screen. This is where you can configure various other options.

At this point, you may still not be able to access all of your device’s features as they’re still locked. Here’s how you can fully unlock them:

1. Select ‘Menu’ and then ‘Applications’ on your iPhone/iPad.

2. Now find and tap the option named ‘Crash’. This will automatically reboot your device.

3. Choose your language and country, then go to Home and choose ‘More WiFi Settings’.

4. Scroll down to find the ‘Configure Proxy’ option and change it to ‘Manual’.

DNS-Bypass

5. In the ‘Server’ input field, enter 30 unique emojis. Use ‘8888’ as the port number and tap ‘Save’.

6. Go back once again and then press forward until you see the unlock screen. Now going to the Home page should fully unlock the device.

While this free-to-use method gets the job done, you might have noticed some incredibly obvious issues. First of all, the entire process is extremely tedious and requires a certain level of technical knowledge.

Making matters worse, the method only works for older devices running iOS 8 to iOS 10. There’s a high chance that your device is way beyond this point and won’t support DNS Bypass.

On top of that, there’s no guarantee that it will unlock your device at all. The success rate is unpredictable and not all countries or regions support this method.

Fortunately, there is a more reliable and user-friendly option.
