New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 6, 2022) follows:

Backed by the popular streamer, Trainwrecks, Kick.com is an all-new streaming platform that directly competes with Twitch.

With an impressive subscriber revenue split of 95-5, the platform has surely gained a lot of attention recently.

While it was positively received by the community, it’s nowhere close to perfect. Some users who’ve decided to give it a shot are experiencing various problems while trying to do so.

Kick.com OTP and email code login issues

Email or OTP verification is one of the most common security measures taken by platforms to confirm user identity. However, some (1,2,3,4) are stuck in the verification process as they are unable to use the codes.

Users are complaining that whenever they enter their OTP or email code, all it shows is an ‘OTP Expired/Timeout’ error message. In some other cases, they may even get the ‘Invalid OTP’ error.

Do note that the issue occurs even when users enter the verification code within the allowed timeframe of 2 minutes. It appears that they are receiving codes that are invalid or expired from the get-go.

This is incredibly frustrating as it’s preventing a considerable chunk of users from accessing the platform.

Fortunately, Kick.com developers have acknowledged the issues with the OTP and email code login process and are working to resolve them.

When talking about email verification, Trainwrecks confirmed that the AWS email service was unable to cope with the sudden influx in traffic resulting in such problems.

we thought it was the OTP email servers, but it was actually the AWS email service struggling with the massive amounts of people signing up at once

Stream key issues

Sadly, the problems don’t end here. Creators who want to stream on Kick.com are also experiencing various issues when trying to access their stream key.

A stream key is absolutely necessary for anyone to stream data to a platform. But some are currently stuck on an infinite loading loop making it impossible to get it.

Unfortunately, the developers are yet to comment on the matter. We hope they are able to identify the root cause behind it and fix it at the earliest.

Kick.com mobile app

Currently, the platform is only accessible via the official website. Users have been asking for a mobile app and there’s finally some good news.

Trainwrecks has confirmed that the team is already working on a mobile version of Kick.com.

It’s a new platform and they have a long list of issues that need to be ironed out. We recommend early adopters to ignore some of its rough edges and wait for the team to fix them with time.

We’ll keep an eye on this matter and update this story to reflect noteworthy information.

Update 1 (December 7, 2022)
