Realm Royale is a spin-off of the game Paladins. It seems that the original game also experiences similar crashing issues on Switch (1,2,3,4).

Can the devs work on not having the game crash on the Switch every game. Or at least not penalize is for the loss. Just saying, it may help keep the number of players up. This latest update just caused chaos. Smmfh. I play Overwatch 2 and Fortnite with no crashes or internet issues so that can be used as a baseline.

Thor, Realm Royale’s Game Designer/CM, has revealed that they’ve been working to address the performance and crashing issues on Switch for quite some time.

According to him, it is next to impossible to get the game running properly on the console.

Switch consoles have an Nvidia customized Tegra processor. This processor, even at the time of the console’s release in 2017, was outdated.

In the last five years, the consoles (including the new OLED edition) have not undergone a CPU/GPU improvement. The developers are having difficulty running a battle royale and optimizing it for relatively poor hardware.

He also confirmed that putting the game on the Switch’s internal drive seems to be helping most players.
