New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 17, 2022) follows:

Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ practically broke the internet and various online ticket-selling platforms alike. Following this, the biggest ticket sales distribution company, Ticketmaster undoubtedly crashed leaving many disappointed.

Initially, the Ticketmaster Taylor Swift Presale access text code stopped arriving for many which prevented them from buying the ticket.

This event further triggered the wrongful scalping of those tickets on the third-party platform, StubHub.

Now, it seems that Tyler Childers ‘Send in the Hounds Tour’ is heading towards a similar fate.

For some context, Tyler Childers recently announced the ‘Hounds Tour’ for 2023. But his fans are already saddened by the long waiting queues on Ticketmaster.

Not only Tyler Childers fans are returning empty-handed but are also forced to buy the Spotify Presale tickets on StubHub for exceptionally higher prices.

Feeling Taylor Swift fans’ pain this morning after coming up empty-handed in the Tyler Childers fan pre-sale this morning 😭. You never fail to fail @Ticketmaster

Spotify’s site says the Presale codes go to the artists top listeners. Tyler’s has been in my top annual listens for the last 2 years on the rewind and I haven’t gotten anything. I will post if I do.
Also fuck Ticketmaster for selling “platinum “ tickets at $250 that are the same seats as what was available today for $60

This has led to many people accusing Ticketmaster of the poorly managed presale event for Tyler Childers, which somehow gave the scalpers the upper hand.

Some even noticed that the Ticketmaster platinum tickets are now priced higher than the better seats listed on Stubhub. The platform came under people’s extreme scrutiny and instigated them to label it a ‘fraud’ or ‘scam’.

Some are now alleging that Ticketmaster is intentionally selling presale tickets to scalpers and surprisingly flagging certain transactions as a fraud from a number of verified buyers.

Ticketmaster and Live Nation monopoly

All of these issues combined (especially the Ticketmaster ‘scam’ following Tyler Childers) have prompted people en masse to call out the site and Live Nation for their opportunistic monopoly.

They have undeniably been accused of abusing their market power by escalating ticket prices and adding arbitrary fees to purchases.

#Ticketmaster is an illegal monopoly by any interpretation. It is an affront to even the most rudimentary interpretation of antitrust laws, and @LiveNation + @Ticketmaster under single ownership is a guarantee of abuse of the entire worldwide ticket purchasing consumer base.

So, both Ticketmaster and Live Nation are currently a hot topic for debate between activists and lawmakers to dissolve the merger following the fiasco over ticket sales.

Apple Music and Spotify for verified fans

Lastly, many feel there should at least be a criterion for recognizing verified fans by a way of teaming up with Spotify and Apple Music.

First of all Ticketmaster should have partnered with Spotify to actually give it to verified fans instead of some random sign up 😒

We hope that Ticketmaster sheds some light on the allegations regarding the ‘scam’ following Tyler Childers. We also look forward to platforms like Apple Music and Spotify paying more attention to their verifying fans’ policies.

We’ll keep tabs on further developments and update this space accordingly.

Update 1 (November 18, 2022)

10:35 am (IST): Ticketmaster on Twitter has announced that tomorrow’s public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been canceled due to heavy demand.

Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow’s public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been cancelled. (Source)

On this, many fans are unhappy and jokingly asked Elon Musk to buy Ticketmaster.
