Original story (published on October 28, 2022) follows:

It’s an interesting time to be a Call of Duty fan, as COD: Modern Warfare 2 is now available globally. While COD: Warzone 2.0 is scheduled for release on November 16, 2022.

There is a great deal of excitement surrounding the launch as a fan-favorite multiplayer map is returning in addition to a host of other content.

COD: Modern Warfare 2 Hardcore (Tier 1)

However, many MW2 players are now upset since the Tier 1 or hardcore game mode is missing from the game at launch (1,2,3,4,5).

Hardcore is a COD game mode that adds extra difficulties for players. It features reduced health, limited HUD, and friendly fire between teammates.

It appears that the developers have opted to rename ‘Hardcore’ as Tier 1 in COD: Modern Warfare 2. This game mode is ideal for COD players who want to experience the utmost realism.

Unfortunately, Tier 1 is presently unavailable, leaving many COD: Modern Warfare 2 players disappointed because they were looking forward to checking it out.

Worst cod launch ever. If I was owner of @Activision and/or @InfinityWard I would be ashamed to ruined a game that’s post to been the MW2 2009 legacy turn into a trash hulu UI looking ass, terrible ass movement. no hardcore mode game. Listen to your community #ModernWarfareII

It appears that developers planned to leave out Hardcore (Tier 1). According to Infinity Ward, COD MW 2 players do not need to worry about its absence as it will be available eventually.

That said, we will keep an eye out for the latest developments and update this story as and when anything noteworthy comes up.

Update 1 (November 1, 2022)

12:55 pm (IST): Infinity Ward has reportedly confirmed that they didn’t include Hardcore (Tier 1) mode in Modern Warfare 2 during launch due to crashing issues with the mode.

Infinity Ward’s Trello Board (we are not linking the Trello board due to it being editable and having questionable comments on it) says Tier 1 (Hardcore) was not in the game at launch because of a crash issue with the mode. #MWII (Source)
