@hulu What the heck? I’m getting a message that’s say Hulu is no longer supported on my device. I have a 2016 Samsung tv. I’d try deleting the app and reinstalling but I don’t know how on this tv. WHAT GIVES HULU?

@hulu_support Hey what gives my samsung TV is somehow no longer supported, can you fix it please I was binge watching Futurama

It seems that Hulu has stopped supporting older devices like the Apple TV gen 3, PS3, Xbox 360, some Samsung Smart TVs, and more.

Since it ended the support without any announcement, many are stuck with a subscription that they feel is unusable now.

Even those with fairly modern TVs are surprised to find that their device is no longer supported by Hulu.

Here are some alternatives

Users with older devices can still continue to avail Hulu’s services with the help of certain devices. The Amazon Fire TV stick, Roku streaming devices and NVIDIA SHIELD TV are great options to modernize old hardware.

We’ll keep tabs on further developments and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.

Update 1 (October 8, 2022)

07:50 am (IST): Hulu support responded to a user’s complaint by stating that they occasionally have to “let some devices go” in order to offer the best viewing experience to users.

In an effort to provide viewers with the best streaming experience, occasionally we do have let some devices go. There are tons of other device options to choose from: https://hulu.tv/Devices- (a lot of our supported devices can plug into your existing TV’s HDMI port). (Source)

The company’s support team also shared a list of supported devices that you can check out here.

Update 2 (October 10, 2022)

12:06 pm (IST): Earlier Hulu support said that users were emailed in advance that they will be dropping support for some devices. However some users claim that they didn’t get any such email regarding this matter.

Update 3 (October 12, 2022)

04:30 pm (IST): A redditor claims that the ‘Hulu is no longer supported’ error can sometimes pop up due to a glitch on certain Samsung Smart TVs and offers a workaround to fix it.

Trying holding down the power button to reset the TV then try again. That has fixed a similar issue for me.

Update 4 (October 13, 2022)

04:55 pm (IST): Hulu support has apologized to a user for not informing them about the change in advance. They have also passed the information to the appropriate teams.

However, it seems that they do not plan on providing refunds or reverting their decision.

We’re so sorry you didn’t receive the email. We’ll pass along this information with the appropriate teams here at Hulu.

Update 5 (October 24, 2022)

12:54 pm (IST): If you own an Apple TV 3rd-gen and lost access to Hulu as the app is no longer supported, then you can still watch content using AirPlay through iPhone. Here’s how:

– Just download Hulu’s app on your iPhone, and browse to the video you want to watch.

– Begin playing the video first on your phone, and then select the TV-shaped Airplay icon in the upper-right of the playback window, and select your AppleTV device from the device list.

– The video from your phone will automatically begin playing on your TV.

– You should charge your phone while using the Airplay function, since video requires battery usage. (Source)
