[Updated] Disney Dreamlight Valley Merlin's Dark Experiment quest 'mushrooms not spawning' or 'can't pick them' bug gets acknowledged

Disney Dreamlight Valley is home to many of your favorite Pixar and Disney characters and the list is only set to grow with future updates.

The game is filled with quests that prove a set of rewards and will help build friendships with the game’s characters that will then populate a player Dreamlight Valley.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Merlin’s Dark Experiment quest mushrooms bug

According to reports, many Disney Dreamlight Valley players are facing a bug with mushrooms in Merlin’s Dark Experiment quest (1,2,3,4,5,6).

Players speak with Merlin during the Dark Experiment quest, and he asks them to gather several materials (20 Mushrooms, 5 Emeralds, 3 Purified Night Shards).

However, there is a problem with how the mushrooms spawn in the game—either they don’t spawn for the players or they spawn at the end of the bridge that the players can’t cross without finishing the quest.

In some other cases, mushrooms spawn but can’t be picked or harvested by players. Due to this, their progress in the quest has been hampered by this issue.

Hey friends, I’ve been enjoying the game a lot the past couple of days but I am STUCK on this quest because mushrooms are not respawning in the glade (or they’re behind the red mushrooms… which I need to finish this quest to remove). Anyone know when they respawn or if I can find them elsewhere?

Does anyone know how long it takes for mushrooms to respawn!? I only need four more for the a Dark Experiment Quest? (I put Merlin’s skill as foraging and it helped me a ton)

Players are now stuck on this quest as they need 20 mushrooms to fulfill the quest requirements and upgrade their watering can.

Fortunately, Disney Dreamlight Valley Support is already aware of this issue and said that they are working on a fix. However, no ETA has been shared yet.

Potential workaround

In the meantime, the following workaround has helped multiple Dreamlight Valley players get around the Merlin’s Dark Experiment quest mushrooms bug:

You can cheat it!! 🙂 Unlock the wishing well in that area, then move the well to the other side! You can access that side by fast traveling to the well. It’s what I had to do for now until it’s fixed. 🙂

07:08 pm (IST): Disney Dreamlight Valley support has confirmed that they are working to fix various issues related to quests in the upcoming patch. However, they did not provide any ETA as to when this patch will be released.

Multiple fixes for quest progression tied to unreachable, missing, and unrecognized items. These include fixes for a variety of NPC Quests that have been reported. (Source)

05:18 pm (IST): Disney Dreamlight Valley has received a new September update with various bug fixes. However, it does not resolves the issue with Merlin’s Dark Experiment quest.

06:49 pm (IST): For players who are having trouble with mushrooms spawning out of area, here’s a potential workaround you can try until a definitive fix arrives.

I was so fed up waiting for mushrooms to spawn I went into the furniture tool and just… moved the well to the side that was blocked and teleported on over. I’m sorry Mickey. (Source)

15:22 pm (IST): Unfortunately, Disney’s latest update still hasn’t fixed the issue where players are unable to pick mushrooms. The Trello board for Disney Deamlight Valley also shows a ‘Fixes Ongoing‘ label for the same.
